Ultima Online weapon builder: damage split, swing speed and imbuing

For official shards · every figure from uo.com · free, no account needed

Two weapons with the same name can be worlds apart. What decides it is the properties on it, how its damage is split between the five types, and how fast it actually swings in your hands.

The weapon builder starts from the base weapon and lets you add properties as loot or by imbuing. Your character’s damage updates as you go.

The damage split

A weapon’s damage is split across physical, fire, cold, poison and energy, and the target’s resist for each type takes its share of that part. Hitting where a target is weakest is often worth more than a few points of Damage Increase.

The ore a weapon is made from changes the split. On armour an ore adds resists; on a weapon it converts damage instead. Bronze turns 40% of a weapon’s damage to fire. Valorite splits it 40% physical, 20% cold, 20% energy, 10% fire and 10% poison.

Caps that matter on a weapon

The builder shows the swing speed you actually get, from the weapon’s own speed, your stamina and your SSI, so you can see what another point of SSI buys.

For imbuers

The builder says whether a soulforge will take the piece. One tip worth knowing first: the Whetstone of Enervation removes the Damage Increase an exceptional weapon is crafted with, which frees both the weight and the property slot it was using. It has to be used before the piece is imbued; it won’t work afterwards.

How to use it

  1. Open the weapon builder and tap to choose a base weapon.
  2. Add properties with + Add a property, or Imbue.
  3. Its damage split appears underneath, and your character’s damage updates with it.

Every base weapon has its own page too, with its tooltip, artwork and every artifact built on it: every weapon in the game.

Where these numbers come from

Every cap and figure on this page is from uo.com’s official wiki, and the builder uses the same ones. Anything uo.com does not publish carries a [!] in the tool, on the screen where it appears.

All of it describes official shards. Free shards run different numbers and a figure from one of them would be wrong here.
