Ultima Online template builder: plan a character before you train it
For official shards · every figure from uo.com · free, no account needed
A template is the plan for a character: its race, its skills and its stats. Getting it right on paper is free. Getting it wrong in game costs weeks of training and a stack of scrolls.
The template builder plans one against the game’s own limits and tells you the moment something does not fit.
720 skill points, and 100 in any one skill
A character holds 720 real skill points. Any one skill stops at 100, or 120 with a Power Scroll for it. Skill that comes from items rides on top: it does not come out of the 720.
That is what makes jewellery planning work. The builder shows your real points next to your totals with items, so you can see exactly how much +skill a suit has to supply to reach your targets, and which skills have to be trained the long way.
The stat cap: 225, and up to 260
Every character starts with a stat cap of 225. Account age adds 5, a Scroll of Power adds up to 25, and a Valiant Commendation adds 5, for 260 in all. The builder adds it up for whatever you set, so you never plan stats you cannot hold.
Race changes the template
- Human: Jack of All Trades gives 20.0 in every skill, even ones never trained. It is a floor, so it does not come out of your 720. Strong Back adds 60 stones to what you can carry, and Tough adds 2 Hit Point Regeneration.
- Elf: Infused with Magic lifts the energy resist cap to 75 where everyone else stops at 70, and Wisdom adds 20 maximum mana.
- Gargoyle: Mystic Insight gives a 30.0 Mysticism floor and +2 Mana Regeneration. Gargoyles fly at mounted speed, but cannot use Archery and have no earring slot.
How to use it
- Open the template builder and tap Create New Character.
- Give them a name, then step through Race and Hair, Skills and Results.
- Pick a premade template on Skills, or set all nine skills yourself against the 720. Tap Show Real to see what is trained without what items add.
When the template is done, dress it in the suit builder and arm it in the weapon builder. The results screen sets every total against its cap.
Where these numbers come from
Every cap and figure on this page is from uo.com’s official wiki, and the builder uses the same ones. Anything uo.com does not publish carries a [!] in the tool, on the screen where it appears.
All of it describes official shards. Free shards run different numbers and a figure from one of them would be wrong here.
